Real Estate Attorney

Utah has done a great job of providing real estate agents with standard forms. We are comfortable with these forms, they cover a broad sector of situations. Having been licensed in another State I was extremely impressed with these Utah forms as I saw the care and detail given by Utah.

However, agents aren't attorneys. You should always be willing to consult an attorney in a real estate transaction. Just last week such a logical situation arose when a friends son was doing a lease purchase on an auto repair shop.Agents aren't authorized to create documents. If something falls outside of those authorized forms an attorney must draw up those documents. This auto shop transaction was one of those. There are many more situations, in fact if you are uncomfortable with any transaction consult an attorney.

Another possible situation is a for sale by owner. What I am willing to do for a FSBO is provide a seller a copy of all of the standard approved documents. Even so,  you still might want to consult your attorney before accepting an offer, even before placing your home on the market.

I suggest picking an attorney that is a specialist in real estate.  Our office often refers clients to a real estate attorney that is a specialist, Judson T Pitts. His office number is 801-285-8737.
